BAKU—President Ilham Aliyev delivered a stirring address following the Azerbaijani Army's successful operation to liberate Hadrut and several other villages, marking a significant moment in the 44-day conflict known as the Second Karabakh War. The operation, deemed "Iron Fist," was launched in response to provocations along the frontline, culminating in the restoration of territorial integrity to Azerbaijan after nearly three decades.
According to Trend News Agency, the nationwide address highlighted the strategic and operational successes of the Azerbaijani forces. President Aliyev detailed the liberation of numerous settlements including Hadrut, Chayli, Yukhari Guzlak, and several others. He expressed profound congratulations to the people of Azerbaijan and praised the army's superior performance on the battlefield. Aliyev noted the complete advantage in terms of logistics and combat readiness that Azerbaijani forces held, which allowed them to execute their operational plan effectively.
Throughout his speech, President Aliyev emphasized the moral and psychological strength of the Azerbaijani soldiers and officers, crediting them with high morale and a deep commitment to reclaiming their land. He starkly contrasted this with the described disarray and desperation within the Armenian forces, accusing them of distorting facts and pleading internationally for support.
President Aliyev also reported significant Armenian losses, including destroyed tanks, artillery units, and anti-aircraft systems, underscoring the heavy blow dealt to Armenia since the conflict's resurgence on September 27, 2020. The address served not only as a summary of military gains but also as a vehement reminder of Azerbaijan's resolve to enforce UN Security Council resolutions and reclaim all occupied territories.
Aliyev concluded his address with a strong message to the Armenian leadership, urging them to seize the opportunity for peace through negotiations, while firmly stating Azerbaijan’s readiness to continue the conflict if necessary. The president’s message was clear: Azerbaijan demands the restoration of its territorial integrity and will achieve it by any means required.
