Baku: The fifth meeting of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO) and religious confessions in Azerbaijan dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Remembrance Day was held, APA reports. The gathering commenced with the performance of the National Anthem and the recitation of the Holy Quran.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Chairman of the CMO highlighted that five years have passed since the outbreak of the Patriotic War, which concluded the 30-year Armenian occupation of Azerbaijani lands, and elaborated on the achievements over the past five years. The event featured the presentation of the publication “Call to the People of Qibla.”

A joint statement from the religious confessions in Azerbaijan was subsequently announced. Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) Musa Gasimli addressed the restoration efforts in the liberated territories, stating, “Along with the 44-day Patriotic War, our mosques, synagogues, and churches were also liberated from occupation. Remembrance Day reminds us of the circumstances under which our lands were freed. From his very first address, President Ilham Aliyev declared that our lands would be liberated, and he achieved this through military means. It is our victorious Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, who bestowed this day upon us.”

Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Associations, Sahib Nagiyev, stressed that during the 44-day Patriotic War, Azerbaijan exemplified unity on a global scale. Chairman of the Mountain Jews Religious Community, Milikh Yevdayev, remarked that after reclaiming their lands, Azerbaijan did not seek any Armenian territory and expressed gratitude to his ancestors for choosing Azerbaijan as a home for Jews.

Members of Parliament and heads of religious confessions paid tribute to the martyrs and deliberated on the significance of their victory.
