Baku: Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, has extended his congratulations to the newly elected Patriarch of Georgia. This announcement was made by the Caucasus Muslims Office to APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the congratulatory message highlighted that the election of Metropolitan of Senaki and Chkhorotsku, Shio (Mujiri), as Catholicos-Patriarch by the expanded council of the Georgian Orthodox Church reflects the collective will of the Georgian clergy and its people.

The message further expressed confidence in Metropolitan Shio's potential to uphold and enhance the religious and spiritual relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia. It also emphasized the importance of continued productive cooperation between the two nations.

The message recalled the historical visit of the late Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II to Azerbaijan following the restoration of independence by both states. Seizing this moment, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade extended a warm invitation to Metropolitan Shio to visit Azerbaijan.
