Baku: ‘Our state, which has preserved the Armenian church in the center of Baku, is now restoring not only our mosques in Shusha, but also the Orthodox and Armenian churches. This is the multicultural policy and moral superiority of the Azerbaijani people and the Azerbaijani state,’ said the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Board, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, at the 5th meeting dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Memorial Day of Religious Confessions in Azerbaijan, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Pashazade emphasized the efforts of the Azerbaijani state under the leadership of its wise leader. Among these efforts are the development of infrastructure such as the Fuzuli, Zangilan, and Lachin airports, the Victory Road leading to Shusha, and reconstruction projects in Khankendi. These initiatives are part of the broader ‘Great Return’ project aimed at transforming the Karabakh lands into a center for international summits. By showcasing the developments in liberated Karabakh to senior religious leaders and engaging with the World Council of Churches, Azerbaijan counters anti-Azerbaijani propaganda and Armenian disinformation, Pashazade stated.

The Chairman also highlighted his international role as co-president of the ‘Religions for Peace’ Organization and a member of the World Council. He noted Azerbaijan’s reputation for fostering interreligious dialogue and intra-Islamic understanding. This was exemplified at an event in Bahrain focused on intra-Islamic dialogue, where Azerbaijan’s model of inter-sectarian harmony was presented as a rare example to the world. Pashazade attributed these successes to the policies pursued by the Azerbaijani state leader.
