Container train from Uzbekistan to Europe arrived in Baku

Container block train from Uzbekistan to Europe arrived in Baku for the first time via multimodal transport route CASCA+ established within the international route “Asia-Pacific Countries – China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Azerbaijan – Georgia – Turkey – Europe”.

The containers were delivered from Turkmenbashi port to Baku port by the “Balkan” feeder vessel operated by “ADY Container”, a subsidiary of the “Azerbaijan Railways”. The block train consists of 91 containers of 20 feet (24 tonnes) each.

The container train runs along the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Bulgaria/Europe route over 4,000 km. The railway train carrying copper concentrate will travel to the Bulgarian port of Burgas.

The project is implemented as a part of cooperation between the route operators “ADY Container” LLC, “Uztemiryolkonteiner” JSC (Uzbekistan), “TULM” JSC (Turkmenistan) and “GR Logistics and Terminals” (Georgia).

Recall that the CASCA+ multimodal transport project (Central Asia, South Caucasus and Anatolia) is a joint initiative of the railway organisations of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan
