BAKU — At the recent “29 Climate Conversations: Road to COP29” media workshop, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan and Chief Negotiator of COP29, Yalchin Rafiyev, reported a constructive approach from all participating states in the lead-up to the upcoming climate summit, according to Trend.
According to Trend News Agency, Rafiyev highlighted the complexity of the ongoing international climate negotiations, especially with the integration of financial issues into the climate agenda. Despite these challenges, he noted the absence of significant problems or difficulties in the positions of any state, pointing to a trend of cooperative and mutual steps among the countries involved.
The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is set to be hosted by Azerbaijan in November. The decision was ratified at last year’s COP28 plenary meeting in Dubai. Baku is preparing to welcome approximately 70,000 to 80,000 international delegates, positioning itself as a global focal point for discussions aimed at preventing dangerous human impacts on the climate system.
