BAKU — COP29 Lead Negotiator Yalchin Rafiyev emphasized the need for enhanced global cooperation and finance mechanisms to tackle climate change effectively at the upcoming 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Rafiyev outlined the conference's objectives, highlighting the essential role of strategic national efforts alongside financial support. "Effective adaptation of the fight against climate change requires not only the provision of finance but also an effective strategy prepared by individual countries," Rafiyev stated. He further noted that the ministers of participating countries at COP29 would discuss current topics and strategies to enhance global cooperation on climate adaptation.
Rafiyev underscored the necessity of a collaborative approach to climate finance, stating, "Our main goal consists of the formation of effective financing mechanisms. At the same time, we believe that all countries should unite their efforts in the issue of climate finance." He stressed that significant advancements in global cooperation on climate adaptation are crucial and require concerted efforts from all nations to increase resilience and effective adaptation strategies.
