CAIRO — Azerbaijan has extended the incarceration of several former leaders of the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh republic, as part of ongoing legal proceedings related to the region's long-standing conflict with Armenia.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the decision affects Arkady Gukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, and Arayik Harutyunyan, who served in various capacities in Nagorno-Karabakh, along with other prominent figures such as Davit Babayan, the former "minister of foreign affairs," and David Ishkhanyan, former "parliament chairman." These individuals, along with several generals, are among a total of 14 members of the separatist regime who have been detained under various articles of the Criminal Code.

The extensions were granted by the court following recommendations from a joint investigative group led by the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan. This group also includes experts from the Military Prosecutor's Office, the State Security Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and other investigative bodies, indicating a comprehensive and coordinated approach to the legal proceedings against the former leaders of Nagorno-Karabakh.
