Baku: “The information and communication technology sector currently accounts for up to 4% of global emissions. We must act to minimize this impact,” COP29 President, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mukhtar Babayev said during his speech at the High-Level Roundtable on the Green Digital Action Programç APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Babayev highlighted the importance of the Green Digital Action Declaration, which is a collaborative initiative by the International Telecommunication Union and the COP29 Presidency. This declaration serves as a pivotal call to action aimed at mitigating the environmental footprint of the ICT sector.
“This Declaration outlines our current joint efforts to implement digital solutions that drive climate action. This platform will serve as an excellent opportunity to discuss how digital technologies can accelerate emission reductions, climate adaptation, and resilience building,” Mukhtar Babayev added.
