BAKU: The COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company has inaugurated the COP29 Uniform Distribution and Accreditation Centre, marking a significant milestone in the preparation for the upcoming COP29 event. The centre was officially opened on October 19th with a ceremony attended by key figures involved in the conference’s organization.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the opening event was attended by Mukhtar Babayev, the President-Designate of COP29; Narmin Jarchalova, Chair of the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company and Chief Operating Officer; Leyla Hasanova, the Youth Climate Champion for COP29; and Hikmat Mustafayev, Chief of Staff at the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company. The attendees toured the facilities and observed the commencement of the accreditation and uniform distribution process.
The centre aims to support approximately 10,000 individuals, including staff, volunteers, and contractors, who are essential to organizing COP29. It will facilitate the efficient distribution of uniforms and acc
reditations required for access to Baku Stadium, the event’s primary venue.
In alignment with sustainability goals, the uniforms have been designed using eco-friendly and recyclable materials. The initiative to source uniforms locally underscores COP29’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and emissions.
Operational at the National Gymnastics Arena, the centre will be open from 10:00 to 18:00, six days a week, providing ample opportunity for attendees to receive their necessary accreditations and uniforms.
