Until COP29, many declarations and documents related to climate change were adopted and certain results were achieved. We want to see practical results from now on, Maimunah Mohd Sharif, the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), said in the panel discussion “From good words to good deeds” at the 11th Baku Global Forum, APA reports.
“I strongly believe that COP29 will contribute to achieving practical results on climate change,” said Maimunah Mohd Sharif.
He said governments should take proactive measures related to climate change that will benefit future generations: “Natural disasters are happening in the world. Whatever they do, whatever plans they prepare, countries must prove that it is effective.”
“Cities are a hub where the population gathers densely and where many enterprises are located. By 2050, the number of people living in cities will increase even more. Without proper urban planning, we will not be able to achieve effective results regarding climat
e change,” she said during his speech.
