Baku: An open court hearing continued at the Baku Military Court with the examination of documents related to crimes committed against Azerbaijanis in various regions, including Shusha and Khankendi, during 1988-1989.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the court proceedings on September 8 focused on reviewing documents episode by episode. One document highlighted an incident on February 22, 1988, where a car with the license plate “GAZ-21” was shelled, with several Azerbaijanis, including L.F. Mamedov and A.M. Abdullayev, inside.

The case materials also included documents on the acquisition and storage of firearms and explosives by individuals like Sargsyan Armen Grigorievich and Artur Ashotovich Sayan. The documents detailed mass riots in Shusha and Khankendi.

Victim Abbasova Zenfira Babur gizi testified about living in Khankendi with her sons in 1988, facing threats and insults from Armenians who demanded they vacate their home. On September 18, 1988, their house was devastated.

Further documents revealed mass riots in Shusha, Khankendi, and Khojaly in September 1988. Reports included Azerbaijani homes in Khankendi being set on fire and looted, and injuries sustained by residents in various regions due to armed attacks. Other incidents included the murder of Gurbanov Alakbar Pasha oglu and the forced eviction of residents.

The ongoing court proceedings are against Armenian nationals accused of war crimes, genocide, terrorism, and other violations of international law. Charges also include financing terrorism and violent seizure of power.
