Baku: The final trial concerning the criminal activities of bloggers residing abroad, including Tural Sadigli, Elshad Mammadov, Suleyman Suleymanli, Gurban Mammadov, Orkhan Aghayev, Rafael Piriyev, and Ordukhan Teymurkhan, has concluded with significant sentences, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the verdict was delivered in absentia at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes, resulting in Gurban Mammadov and Tural Sadiglu receiving 14-year prison terms. Elshad Mammadov, Suleyman Suleymanli, Orkhan Aghayev, Rafael Piriyev, and Ordukhan Teymurkhan were each sentenced to 9 years imprisonment.

The charges against the accused included a range of offenses under the Criminal Code, such as fraud by an organized group (Article 178.3.1), open calls for terrorism (Article 214-2), and incitement to mass riots and violence against citizens (Article 220.2). Additional charges included armed uprising and repeated offenses by a group (Article 281.2), as well as forgery of an official document (Article 320.1). Given their residence outside the country, the court opted for arrest in absentia as a preventive measure.

Khagani Khalilov was named as the victim in the proceedings.
