Court Releases Documents on 1990 Azerbaijani Shelling and Official’s Murder

Baku: An open court hearing regarding the criminal cases involving citizens of the Republic of Armenia continued on September 11 at the Baku Military Court with the announcement of documents, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, one of the documents detailed the events of March 24, 1990, when two missiles were launched at Sadarak from the direction of the village of Yeraskh in Armenia’s Ararat region. While one missile exploded mid-flight, the other detonated near the yard of Sadarak resident Gasimov Ismayil Bayram oghlu.

Further documents revealed the injury of six individuals in the village of Shada in the Shahbuz region, as well as the shelling of Kishlag and other villages in the Tovuz region. From 17:00 to 00:00, the villages of Kishlag, Yukhari Hajally, and Alibeyli in Tovuz were heavily shelled from the Shamshaddin region of Armenia, leading to civilian injuries.

In addition, the court unveiled a document on the murder of Veli Zeynalov. It stated that on March 27-28, 1990, Armenian forces attacked the village of Garmachatag in the Babek region with weapons of various calibers, setting ten houses ablaze and killing Veli Mammad oghlu Zeynalov, head of the State Legal Department of the Nakhchivan Regional Committee, with an automatic weapon.

Another document described the attack on July 11, 1990, when a convoy of 16 vehicles came under sustained gunfire near Gozlukorpu village in the Aghdara region on the 93rd kilometer of the Barda-Istisu road. This attack resulted in the deaths of three people and injuries to 22 others.

The court proceedings continue against Armenian nationals accused of crimes including war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, aggression, terrorism, and violations of the laws of war. The charges also encompass financing terrorism, the violent seizure and retention of power, and other serious offenses.
