Baku: The Baku Military Court has unveiled crucial documents during an open court hearing concerning criminal cases against Armenian citizens, revealing disturbing details of vandalism perpetrated against civilians and civilian objects by Armenian armed forces during the April 2016 battles.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the hearing, which continued on September 29, saw the announcement of several documents that shed light on episodes of bodily harm inflicted on civilians, attempted killings, and damage to property. These incidents occurred between April 2 and 28, 2016, when the Armenian forces executed numerous criminal acts. The acts included heavy shelling using large-caliber weapons, mortars, grenades, and artillery targeting undefended settlements in Azerbaijan’s Aghdam, Terter, Goranboy, Fizuli, and Aghjabedi districts. The attacks also extended to educational and medical institutions and civilians who were not participating in the hostilities.

During the session, photos from the crime scenes were displayed, providing visual evidence of the devastation caused. The court also reviewed documents related to the shelling of Eskipara village in Terter with a P-4 122mm artillery projectile containing white phosphorus, as well as the murders of Chingiz Salman oghlu Gurbanov and Huseyn Zakir oghlu Akberli. Gurbanov was posthumously awarded the title of ‘National Hero of Azerbaijan’. Additionally, the documents detailed economic exploitation and other crimes committed in the occupied territories.

The court proceedings continue against Armenian nationals accused of a range of serious offenses, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, aggression, terrorism, and violations of the laws of war. The charges further encompass financing terrorism, the violent seizure and retention of power, and other grave offenses.
