Deputy FM Advocates for Repeal of Section 907 in Talks with US Congress Representatives

Baku: Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov engaged with the professional staff of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee on January 30, 2026, as reported by MFA to APA. The discussions centered around the current regional context, the importance of agreements from the August 8 Washington Peace Summit, and steps in the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, including measures concerning the peace agreement.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the dialogue also addressed the nearing completion of the U.S.-Azerbaijan Strategic Partnership Charter. Both parties explored various initiatives in Congress related to Azerbaijan, stressing the importance of repealing Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act concerning Azerbaijan. Additional topics on the bilateral agenda and mutual interest were also examined during the meeting.
