Baku: The design phase of Azerbaijan's Earth observation satellites, 'Azersky-2A' and 'Azersky-2B', has been successfully completed, as announced by the Azerbaijan National Space Agency (AZERCOSMOS) in response to an inquiry from APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the production process for the 'Azersky-2A' satellite is currently underway and involves Azerbaijani specialists. All necessary agreements regarding the satellite's launch and operation have been finalized and are being implemented as planned.

Future plans include the assembly of the 'Azersky-2B' satellite, along with other similar satellites, within Azerbaijan. To maintain a competitive edge in negotiations with potential customers, the costs related to the satellites are kept confidential. Similarly, the specific operation date and export activities associated with the satellite services remain undisclosed.

The original 'Azersky' satellite, Azerbaijan's first remote sensing satellite, was launched in 2014 and completed its mission in 2023, one year ahead of its expected operational lifespan. In the same year, AZERCOSMOS signed a cooperation agreement with an Israeli company to develop new Earth observation satellites under the Azersky-2 program, which includes the production of Azersky-2A and Azersky-2B.
