Baku: The Chairman of the Board of the Land Transport Agency (AYNA), Anar Rzayev, has announced plans for the construction of 10 new metro stations in Baku. Speaking at a meeting focused on transport issues, Rzayev emphasized that despite the construction of new roads, the high demand for transportation necessitates the expansion of mass transit services.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Rzayev explained that various development scenarios for the metro system were analyzed, and the most optimal scenario was chosen through simulations. The plan involves constructing 10 new stations that will connect with four existing ones. The new stations are part of the extension of the “Purple Line” to Babek Avenue and the “Green Line” to the “Hazi Aslanov” metro station. The expansion of the “Purple Line” aims to increase the use of the “Avtovaghzal” and “Khojasan” stations while alleviating congestion at the ’20 Yanvar’ metro station and surrounding areas.

The extension of the “Green Line” from “Hazi Aslanov” is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters traveling from the city center to a shopping center in Khojasan. This development is anticipated to reduce traffic congestion in the city center. These projects are projected to enable the metro system to transport an additional 88 million passengers annually, facilitating greater movement within the city.
