Didier Deschamps Confident Ahead of France’s World Cup Qualifier in Baku

Baku: As part of the qualification round for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the French national team is set to face off against their opponents in Baku. The team’s head coach, Didier Deschamps, addressed journalists at a press conference, discussing the team’s preparation and objectives for the upcoming match.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Deschamps downplayed concerns regarding the absence of key players such as Ousmane Demb©l© and Kylian Mbapp©. He noted that while several players, including Desiree Due, are not present, the team has already secured qualification for the World Cup, which alleviates some pressure. Deschamps emphasized that the 22 players available for the match are motivated and ready to face a determined opponent.

Deschamps also addressed questions about Mbapp©’s absence, explaining that the star forward is dealing with ongoing heel issues. To ensure his well-being, Mbapp© has been left out of the squad, with Real Madrid’s medical staff overseeing his recovery. Deschamps emphasized the importance of prioritizing player health now that World Cup qualification is secured.

Despite the absence of three injured players, Deschamps expressed confidence in the squad’s readiness. He assured that all 22 players traveled to Baku and are fit to participate in the match. The team has managed to rest adequately following their 4-0 victory over Ukraine, which secured their World Cup berth, and is prepared to give their best performance on the field.
