Zangilan: Zangilan's Master Plan is being developed in accordance with the region's climate conditions, as announced by Dunja Kovari-Binggeli, the founding partner of the Swiss international urban planning and territorial development agency 'sa_partners.' Her remarks were made during a dialogue session titled 'BBB Publication (TBC)' at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the main focus of Zangilan's Master Plan is to integrate the city's natural environment with its built structures, ensuring that the trees which have thrived over the past three decades remain a central part of the city's landscape. A significant portion of Zangilan's existing tree cover has been designated for protection. One of the core principles of the urban planning effort involves the incorporation of 'cold air corridors.' This strategy is intended to preserve ecological balance and enhance the climate resilience of the urban environment.

Kovari-Binggeli highlighted that the ongoing work is rooted in respecting the existing natural heritage while applying a contextual urban regeneration approach. She noted that the mountainous terrain of the Karabakh and East Zangezur region has been a critical factor in shaping the planning process.
