Tokyo: Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for Special Assignments, Elchin Amirbayov, engaged in crucial discussions with Japanese officials regarding the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process and the upcoming COP29 conference during his working visit to Japan.

According to Trend News Agency, the meetings included high-profile Japanese figures such as National Security Advisor Takeo Akiba, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Kiyoto Tsuji, and Kimi Onoda, head of the foreign and defense committee of the House of Councillors. The discussions aimed at enhancing the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Japan, reviewing the current status, and addressing the prospects and challenges of the peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The talks also covered preparations for the forthcoming COP29, which is scheduled to be held in Baku.

During the visit, Ambassador Amirbayov also delivered a speech at the Japan Forum of International Relations (JFIR), focusing on the theme “Historic chance f
or peace in South Caucasus: challenges and opportunities”. His visit underscores the importance of international cooperation and dialogue in addressing regional conflicts and environmental issues ahead of significant global events like COP29.
