Jabrayil: Construction activities for the Shafag project progressed significantly at the site in the Jabrayil district, enabling the commencement of electrical installation activities in the coming weeks. According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the first batches of electrical equipment have been delivered, marking another step forward in the project's timeline.

During the first half of 2026, key equipment, including photovoltaic modules and structural components, were procured and delivered to the site. The project also saw progress in pile and tracker installation. A major milestone was achieved in early April with the successful installation of the first solar panel.

The project has boosted local employment, with around 420 people currently engaged, including 150 nationals from the liberated areas. At peak construction, it is expected to create more than 700 jobs. Consequently, existing camp facilities are being expanded to accommodate the growing workforce.

The project has maintained a focus on environmental protection, coordinating with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources to support the safe relocation of wildlife and monitoring vegetation clearance. Construction activities are expected to continue through mid-2027.

The shareholding interests in Shafag Jabrayil Solar Limited are held by bp with 40.01%, SOCAR Green with 39.99%, and both the Azerbaijan Business Development Fund and MVM holding 10% each.
