Electricity Generation Soars in Azerbaijan’s Hydropower Plants


Baku: Electricity generation in Azerbaijan has seen a significant increase, particularly from hydropower plants. This was reported by the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Parviz Shahbazov, in a recent post on the X platform, as cited by APA-Economics.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, operational data for the first quarter of this year indicated that Azerbaijan’s electricity generation reached 7171.8 million kWh. In the same period, the country exported 385 million kWh and imported 35.7 million kWh of electricity. Notably, 853.5 million kWh of electricity was generated from renewable energy sources, with hydropower plants contributing a notable increase of 243.9 million kWh.



The data highlights Azerbaijan’s focus on boosting renewable energy production, with hydropower playing a crucial role in the country’s energy strategy.
