Baku: Bringing the ESCO (Energy Service Company) model and culture to Azerbaijan, increasing public awareness, and developing institutions operating in this field are of great importance for the country, said Azerbaijan's Deputy Energy Minister Elnur Soltanov while speaking at the event titled 'Energy Efficiency and the ESCO Investment Platform: Connecting Global ESCO Experience with Azerbaijan's Major Energy Consumers,' held within the framework of the 31st Baku Energy Week, APA-Economics reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Soltanov emphasized the need for an open dialogue with partners, customers, and service providers to understand market dynamics and identify existing gaps. He stated that the legislative situation is satisfactory, with a relevant fund available to support ESCO projects.
Raising awareness will form a significant part of the activities being implemented, Soltanov noted, adding that open discussions are crucial for accelerating the implementation of energy efficiency and ESCO mechanisms in Azerbaijan. He assured that the Ministry of Energy is ready to provide support and is open to cooperation on specific projects and individual cases.
Soltanov mentioned that starting the process with government buildings may be challenging, suggesting an initial focus on state-owned companies, state corporations, and private enterprises. He concluded by expressing interest in learning from experiences to transform them into concrete action plans.
