Erdogan to discuss gas hub project with government today

Gazprom” is actively working with the Turkish side and other market participants on a gas hub in the republic. Decisions on it will be made in 2023, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak said in an interview with the “Rossiya-24” TV channel.

“Now “Gazprom” is actively collaborating with Turkish colleagues, with our other participants in this project from other countries. Since Algeria, Qatar, and Azerbaijan are currently delivering to Europe via the southern direction, in principle, we are talking about creating a kind of hub, which would involve not only Russian suppliers, but also other exporters,” he said. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, decisions on the gas hub in Turkey will be made during 2023.

Novak noted that the talk is about creating a hub, the price of which will be formed in a market way.

In turn, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will discuss with the government mechanisms for the implementation of the gas hub project, RIA Novosti reports citing a diplomatic source in Ankara.

As the source specified, the Cabinet on Monday, December 26, will hold its last meeting in 2022 under the chair of the head of state. “The main topic of the meeting is gas. This is the connection to the national system of gas discovered in the Black Sea, and the gas hub project proposed by the President of Russia,” he said.

However, last Saturday, speaking in Erzurum, the President of Turkey said that on Monday he would announce to the public about new “interesting news” on the gas topic. “We are working day and night to connect the gas we discovered in the Black Sea to our national system. On Monday, we will share new good, interesting news on this issue with our nation,” Erdogan said
