Georgia reports discovery of small oil reserves

The British oil company “Block Energy” announced the discovery of oil reserves near the village of Patardzeuli in eastern Georgia.

The press release, which the company published on the website of the London Stock Exchange, drew the attention of Bm.ge.

The statement said that after the last stage of well testing, which began on December 9, oil production in this area is 45 barrels per day.

The “Patardzeuli” field was transferred to Block Energy in 2020, but oil has been produced there since the Soviet era. In1975-1985, production amounted to 98 million barrels.

In July, it was reported that a gas field with a volume of 16 bcm was discovered in Georgia. The operator of the license for exploration and production of oil and gas in this area is also the Block energy company
