Luxembourg: The mid-year meeting of the European Association of Judges (EAJ) was held in Luxembourg from May 21-23, where Azerbaijan played a significant role. Representing Azerbaijan were Ramiz Rzayev, Chairman of the Union of Azerbaijani Judges, and Sanan Hajiyev, Deputy Chairman of the Union.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the opening ceremony took place at the Court of Justice of the European Union, attended by representatives from 39 European Member Associations. The leadership of the EAJ extended their gratitude to Azerbaijan for hosting the 67th Annual Meeting of the International Association of Judges (IAJ) in Baku the previous year.
During the meeting, reports by the association's Working Groups were presented, followed by discussions focusing on the current state of judicial independence among member states. The meeting also resulted in the adoption of resolutions aimed at removing obstacles faced by certain judges of the Constitutional Court in Poland and addressing cases of contempt of court in Greece.
The assembly included presentations by leaders from the European Academy of Law, the European Network of Councils for the Justice (ENCJ), and the European Justice Training Network (EJTN). Additionally, participants of the event were received by HRH the Grand Duke of Luxembourg Guillaume V and were given an opportunity to learn about the operations of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
