Bucharest: Mircea Lucescu, the former manager of Romania's national football team, has suffered a heart attack mere hours after resigning from his position. The incident occurred shortly after Romania's World Cup play-off loss, leading to Lucescu's decision to step down.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the 80-year-old was rushed to the hospital after collapsing during a team meeting. The former manager, known for his tenure with Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kyiv, experienced a health scare that prompted his resignation.

Lucescu was admitted to the intensive care unit with high blood pressure and subsequently transferred to the cardiology department at the Emergency University Hospital in Bucharest. He is currently described as stable and remains under medical supervision.
