Baku: Concerns have emerged regarding the increasing spread of fake news in Turkish media, contradicting the principles of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Joint Media Platform. "The emergence of this type of disinformation in Turkish media, which is characteristic of Russian, Iranian, Armenian, and Western media, causes deep regret within Azerbaijani society," stated Natig Mammadli, Deputy Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, in response to a trend that is raising alarms in Turkish media circles.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, disinformation campaigns against Azerbaijan have been observed in the media and social media of several foreign countries. The Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan expressed regret over the dissemination of fake news regarding Azerbaijan by some Turkish media outlets, including Hrriyet and Sabah. These outlets have reportedly circulated biased stories, often citing questionable sources and failing to reflect the truth.

Mammadli highlighted that the approach taken by leading Turkish media organizations contradicts the essence of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Joint Media Platform. This platform was formed under the Memorandum of Understanding 'On Strategic Cooperation in the Media Field between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey' signed in 2021, aiming to combat disinformation and inform the global community accurately.

The Joint Media Platform's primary objective is to address disinformation in the international arena collaboratively. Mammadli called on Turkish state institutions involved in media and communications to conduct explanatory work to prevent the rising flow of disinformation about Azerbaijan in the Turkish media environment.
