Lankaran: A man has shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself in southern Azerbaijan, APA reports, citing local authorities. The incident happened in the evening in the village of Kargelan in the Lankaran district.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Sarhad Mammadov, born in 1956, is alleged to have shot his wife, Balagiz Mammadova, born in 1965, with a shotgun at their home. Initial information suggests that he then used the same weapon to take his own life.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but both individuals were pronounced dead. Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances and possible motive behind the shooting. Further details have not yet been released.
