Baku: Fenerbahce and Lyon played out a 1-1 draw at Ulker Stadyumu in Istanbul, with second-half goals from Mason Greenwood and Lois Openda cancelling each other out in a match shaped by a flurry of missed chances, three disallowed offside calls and two second-half yellow cards, APA reports citing Trkiye Today.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Lyon broke the deadlock in the 40th minute when Openda rose to head home from close range, converting a cross from Corentin Tolisso. The goal capped a first half in which both sides created danger without finding the net.

Fenerbahce's Vedat Muriqi headed narrowly wide in the ninth minute from a Matteo Guendouzi cross, while Greenwood twice tested Lyon goalkeeper Dominik Greif, first from outside the box in the 36th minute and again with a shot saved at the near post in first-half stoppage time.

Tanner Tessmann also had a shot saved by Fenerbahce goalkeeper Ederson in the 23rd minute. Lyon defender Abner Vinicius picked up a yellow card in the 37th minute for a foul on Milan Skriniar.

Fenerbahce went into the break trailing 1-0 after two added minutes of first-half stoppage time, during which Tolisso was penalized for handball.

Fenerbahce equalized just two minutes into the second half. In the 47th minute, Greenwood struck a left-footed shot from the right side of the box into the high center of the goal, finishing off an assist from Kerem Akturkoglu. The goal set the score at 1-1, where it would remain for the rest of the match.

Lyon responded with a sustained spell of pressure. In the 52nd minute, Openda struck the left post with a right-footed effort from outside the box, and moments later Tolisso forced a save from Ederson in the center of the goal.

Ernest Nuamah also had a shot saved by Ederson in the 55th minute, curling an attempt from a tight angle that the Fenerbahce goalkeeper turned away at the top right corner.
