Baku: First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva and Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva visited Nursery No.1 in Nasimi district and Orphanage No. 1 in Nizami district of Baku.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Nursery No.1 currently cares for 63 children under the age of three. First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva and Vice-President Leyla Aliyeva frequently visit this facility, demonstrating their commitment to the children’s well-being. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation spearheaded the renovation of the nursery’s building, originally constructed in 1930, and the newly refurbished facility was inaugurated on May 10, 2015, with First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva present.
Following their visit to the nursery, Mehriban Aliyeva and Leyla Aliyeva proceeded to Orphanage No. 1. They are known to be frequent visitors, often celebrating holidays with the children and presenting them with gifts. Orphanage No.1 cares for 100 children aged between 3 and 18, providing them with resources for education, sports, and healthcare.
The visit by the First Lady and Leyla Aliyeva was warmly received, with the children welcoming them with poems, songs, and literary performances. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, since its inception, has focused on ensuring the residents have access to higher education and employment opportunities. Major renovations were made to the orphanage with the foundation’s support, reopening in 2005. In a testament to the foundation’s continued support, a wedding for two residents was organized in 2017, where the couple was gifted an apartment and a car.
