Baku: First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, visited the Scientific Research Institute of Pediatrics on August 26, accompanied by her daughters, Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the visit included a briefing from Minister of Health Teymur Musayev, who detailed the institute's ongoing activities. Established in 1925, the Scientific Research Institute of Pediatrics has been a pivotal institution in Azerbaijan's healthcare system, dedicated to the protection and improvement of children's health. It was initially based on a 200-bed children's hospital and transformed into the Institute for the Protection of Mother and Child in 1927.

The institute plays a multifaceted role, not only treating and preventing childhood diseases but also training medical personnel in pediatrics, conducting scientific research, and enhancing medical education. With clinical departments offering 255 beds and a specialized 60-bed neonatal resuscitation and intensive care department, it serves as a central hub for pediatric care in the republic.

During her visit, Mehriban Aliyeva and her daughters inspected the facilities and reviewed the conditions at the institute. The visit also included the presentation of medical equipment, such as mechanical ventilation devices, which will aid the institute in its future operations and reinforce its commitment to advancing child health care in Azerbaijan.
