Baku: A meeting took place on May 22 between Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Rebeca Grynspan, the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to APA. The discussions centered around the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNCTAD.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the discussions included potential cooperation in areas such as sustainable development, international trade, investment promotion, digital transformation, green economy, and the integration of developing countries into the global economic framework. Minister Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan's commitment to multilateral cooperation and shared insights on initiatives undertaken by Azerbaijan in regional connectivity, transport and logistics, energy security, and climate-related agendas.

Rebeca Grynspan expressed her satisfaction with the progress in cooperation between UNCTAD and Azerbaijan, acknowledging the country's increasing influence in regional economic collaboration and connectivity initiatives. She emphasized the significance of broadening joint projects focusing on trade and development under the umbrella of UNCTAD.

The talks also touched on the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process following the conflict, efforts in reconstruction and restoration in liberated territories, as well as the prevailing situation in the Middle East and its repercussions on the global economy and trade. The meeting also covered various other regional and international topics of mutual interest.
