Baku: Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, has called upon the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to take a more active role in demining initiatives. This appeal was made during a joint press conference with Ignazio Cassis, the Swiss Confederation's Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and OSCE Chairman-in-Office.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Bayramov highlighted the severe impact of landmines planted by Armenia since the 2020 war, noting that 433 individuals have been affected. Despite Azerbaijan's substantial efforts and some support from other countries and international organizations, Bayramov expressed concerns that the current level of assistance is insufficient to address the full extent of the demining needs.

Bayramov emphasized the necessity for the OSCE to enhance its involvement, advocate for stronger support in humanitarian projects, and foster international cooperation to effectively tackle the landmine issue in Azerbaijan.
