FM Highlights Importance of Azerbaijan’s Numerous Jewish Communities

Baku: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, underscored the significance of Azerbaijan's Jewish communities in fostering relations between Azerbaijan and Israel. During a joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Gideon Sa'ar, Bayramov emphasized the integral role these communities play in strengthening ties between the two nations.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Bayramov highlighted that a substantial portion of the diaspora in Israel consists of individuals who emigrated from Azerbaijan. He pointed out that this connection contributes positively to the diplomatic and cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Israel. The minister remarked that the visit of the Israeli foreign minister began with a meeting with representatives of the Jewish community, underscoring its importance.

Bayramov also noted the timing of the visit, which coincided with the commemoration of the Holocaust victims. He stated, "Tomorrow is the day of commemoration of the victims of the Holocaust. We commemorate and honor them," signaling the shared commitment to remembering and honoring those who suffered during the Holocaust. This observance further cements the historical and cultural ties between the two countries.
