Baku: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov recently held discussions with Ugochi Daniels, Deputy Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), during her visit to Baku for the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), according to Azeri-Press news agency.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting centered on the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and IOM, particularly in the realm of migration management. The discussions highlighted the positive trajectory of Azerbaijan's relations with UN specialized agencies, emphasizing the dynamic development of ties with the IOM.

Both parties underscored the significance of joint initiatives to modernize migration management mechanisms. The discussions also touched upon Azerbaijan's ongoing infrastructure projects in liberated territories and the broader economic rehabilitation of these regions. It was highlighted that the phased return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands remains a strategic priority for the Azerbaijani government.

Ugochi Daniels commended Azerbaijan for its reforms in the migration sector, particularly the 'Great Return' program aimed at facilitating the return of internally displaced persons. She affirmed IOM's commitment to continuing its cooperation with Azerbaijan and providing support for migration-related projects.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on various issues of mutual interest, including the regional situation.
