Baku: The foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) convened for the second round of consular consultations, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring future cooperation, in Baku on December 17.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the consultations were led by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Rashed Nadhar Rahmah, Director of the Consular Services Department, UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The discussions centered around reviewing the current state and future prospects of consular cooperation with the UAE, a key partner for Azerbaijan, including potential new bilateral agreements.

The dialogue also included an exchange of views on recent innovations within the consular field. Both countries shared their current experiences and explored mechanisms for the digitalization of consular services, considering future collaborations and mutual application of best practices.

The parties underscored the significance of strengthening relations in areas such as migration, justice, border management, internal affairs, education, and social sectors. The officials concluded the session with an agreement to hold the next round of consular consultations in Abu Dhabi in 2026.
