Baku: The Baku Climate and Peace Action Hub initiative, introduced by Azerbaijan during COP29, has garnered support from over 300 organizations. This initiative focuses on enhancing financial access for post-conflict and climate-vulnerable countries, as highlighted by Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Elshad Iskandarov during the World Urban Forum (WUF13) session in Baku.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Climate action contributing to peace through urban solutions in vulnerable and conflict-affected areas' held at WUF13, Elshad Iskandarov underscored the interconnectedness of climate change, urbanization, and post-conflict recovery processes. He emphasized that these elements pose significant challenges, particularly for vulnerable nations.

Iskandarov elaborated on the objectives of the Baku Climate and Peace Action Hub, which was established during COP29. The initiative aims to improve access to climate finance, encourage sustainable urban development, and support projects that foster peace. He noted that the initiative has already received backing from countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Egypt, Uganda, and the United Arab Emirates, alongside more than 300 organizations.

Furthermore, the ambassador mentioned that memorandums of understanding have been signed with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), Guinea-Bissau, and The Gambia to facilitate the initiative's practical implementation.
