Former ‘Akkord Construction Industry’ Owner Ilgar Hajiyev Summoned to Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office

Baku: The former owner of “Akkord Construction Industry” JSC, Ilgar Hajiyev, has been summoned to the Prosecutor General’s Office, APA reports, citing Ictimai Television. Ilgar Allaz oglu Hajiyev is required to appear at the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, as per Article 467-13.4 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Hajiyev is expected to appear on November 24th at 10:00 AM at the Investigation Department located in the Binagadi District of Baku. Previously, he was charged under Article 178.3.2 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, which was valid until 2017. As he fled the country and remained abroad, a search warrant was issued for his arrest. On January 13th, 2021, the Nizami District Court decided on a special measure of arrest in absentia.

On November 14, the charges against Hajiyev were amended, and he was charged under Articles 178.3.2 and 193-1.3.2 of the Criminal Code, effective until December 1, 2017. While leading ‘Ezde’ Group LLC from 2016 to 2021, he allegedly misappropriated 10 million USD and laundered these funds.

The accused has been warned that if he does not comply with the summons, proceedings in absentia may begin, potentially leading to a judgment or another court decision against him.
