President Ilham Aliyev Visits Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent

Tashkent: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent. The visit, which took place on November 15, was reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the Center of Islamic Civilization was established by a decree from the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, with its foundation stone laid in 2018. The center, developed with contributions from hundreds of scientists, experts, and religious and public figures, spans over 10 hectares and is designed in the style of ancient Samarkand architectural monuments. Its impressive dome rises 65 meters high.

The center’s core facilities include sections for research, publishing, library, archives, and a manuscript fund, as well as a national register for rare manuscripts. Its exhibition gallery uses modern technologies and digital devices to display historical artifacts and works, highlighting the creative achievements of past generations.

Additionally, the center houses a vast library with 100 thousand manuscripts and over a million books, a scientific department, and offices for international organizations. The museum exposition is divided into distinct halls, such as “Pre-Islamic Civilizations”, “The First Renaissance”, “The Second Renaissance”, “Uzbekistan in the 20th Century”, “New Uzbekistan – the Basis of the Third Renaissance”, and “The Holy Quran”.

At the center of the complex is the hall of the ‘Holy Quran’, which preserves the ancient ‘Muskhaf Usman’, a priceless relic of the Islamic world. The hall also features copies of the holy book from various historical dynasties and the rarest handwritten copies of the Koran from around the globe. The center has also implemented several religious-educational and innovative media projects.

The ‘Wall of Time’, a multimedia panel using holography and projection technologies, provides information on key historical periods, discoveries, and renowned figures from different eras. The center collaborates with international organizations such as UNESCO and ICESCO.
