Bangkok: Former Ambassador of Thailand to Azerbaijan, Apirat Sugondhabhirom, expressed his hope that Thai citizens will soon have the opportunity to visit Shusha and Karabakh, regions in Azerbaijan currently preparing to welcome foreign tourists. “I hope that Thais will visit beautiful Azerbaijan – Baku, Nakhchivan, and, when it is ready to receive foreign tourists, Shusha and Karabakh,” Sugondhabhirom stated, highlighting his personal fondness for the country.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Sugondhabhirom was speaking on the occasion of the opening of Azerbaijan’s embassy in Bangkok, a development he described as a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between Thailand and Azerbaijan. He expressed his pleasure at attending the opening ceremony and conveyed confidence that the new Azerbaijani diplomatic mission in Bangkok will play a crucial role in strengthening the existing friendly relations between the two nations.
Sugondhabhirom noted the vast potential for growth in various sectors, including political, economic, and trade issues, as well as people-to-people relations, tourism, and cultural exchanges. He emphasized the mutual benefits that both countries could achieve through collaboration and development in these areas.
Reflecting on his tenure as Thailand’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Sugondhabhirom conveyed his ongoing passion for the country, despite having retired from his official duties. He expressed his desire to see continued efforts in fortifying the friendship between Thailand and Azerbaijan, underscoring his personal connection and commitment to fostering bilateral ties.
