Lima:The 'Khatai-Ajdahali' carpet was recently unveiled at the Lima Metropolitan Museum to commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Peru. This carpet, donated by the Azerbaijani Embassy, will be a permanent exhibit, highlighting Azerbaijan's rich cultural heritage and traditional carpet-weaving art.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Mexico and concurrently accredited to Peru, Seymur Fataliyev, highlighted the development of bilateral relations since their establishment on June 25, 1996, covering political, parliamentary, and cultural areas.
The ambassador emphasized that the 'Khatai-Ajdahali' carpet, belonging to the Garabagh school of carpet weaving and donated with the support of Azerbaijan's National Commission for UNESCO, represents the nation's deep cultural heritage and ancient artistic traditions.
Lima Mayor Fabiola María Morales Castillo remarked that the permanent display of the carpet would enhance the promotion of Azerbaijani culture and strengthen the friendship between the two countries.
A conference accompanying the unveiling focused on the artistic features and symbolism of Garabagh carpets, underlining their significance in Azerbaijan's cultural heritage. The event also included Azerbaijani music, cuisine, and tourism videos, and presented a publication by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, titled Azerbaijani Carpets, to Lima City Hall.
The permanent exhibition of the carpet is anticipated to further promote Azerbaijan's traditional carpet-weaving art and deepen cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Peru.
