Tbilisi: Georgia is anticipating a significant increase in tourist arrivals from Azerbaijan following the resumption of passenger train services between Tbilisi and Baku. Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, highlighted the importance of this development during an interview with Imedi TV channel, as reported by APA's local bureau.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Georgia will be the sole exception among Azerbaijan's neighbors to restart passenger train services. The minister emphasized that Azerbaijan has been a vital partner in Georgia's tourism sector for many years. The reestablishment of railway connectivity, she noted, will not only enhance tourism but also strengthen people-to-people ties and bolster trade and economic relations between the two nations.

Currently, the capitals of Georgia and Azerbaijan are connected solely by air. Kvrivishvili expressed optimism that the restoration of train services will play a crucial role in increasing tourist numbers, particularly with the onset of the summer tourism season.
