Baku: Georgia’s trade turnover with Azerbaijan totaled USD 691.2 million in the first half of this year, reflecting an increase of 10.6% compared to the same period last year, the preliminary report of the National Statistics Office of Georgia said, APA’s local bureau reports.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, in January-June, Azerbaijan ranked as Georgia’s fifth-largest trading partner after Trkiye, Russia, China, and the United States, accounting for 5.3% of the country’s total trade turnover. Georgia exported goods worth USD 335.8 million to Azerbaijan, marking a 1.8% decline year-on-year. Despite the decrease, Azerbaijan remained Georgia’s third-largest export destination after Kyrgyzstan and China, making up 8.7% of the country’s total exports.
The value of goods imported by Georgia from Azerbaijan saw a significant increase, rising by 25% year-on-year to USD 355.2 million. Azerbaijan was Georgia’s sixth-largest import partner after Trkiye, Russia, China, the United States, and Germany, contributing 3.9% to the country’s total imports.
During the reporting period, Georgia’s total foreign trade turnover amounted to USD 12.9 billion. Exports accounted for USD 3.87 billion of the total trade turnover, while imports totaled USD 9.05 billion.
