228 More Mines, 630 UXO Detected in Azerbaijan’s Liberated Territories


Baku: The agencies involved in mine clearance operations in the territories liberated from occupation have released information on activities carried out last week (July 13-19, 2026), the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) told APA.



According to Azeri-Press news agency, 200 anti-personnel mines, 28 anti-tank mines, and 630 items of unexploded ordnance (UXO) were detected in the liberated territories during the past week. ANAMA reported that a significant area of 1,959.5 hectares of land was successfully cleared of mines and UXO.



This effort is part of ongoing demining operations aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the region’s inhabitants and facilitating resettlement and development activities in these areas. The mine clearance operations are crucial for the restoration of normalcy and the rebuilding of infrastructure in the liberated territories.
