Baku: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has emphasized the significant economic potential that Azerbaijan holds for Germany during a joint press conference with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. "Azerbaijan plays an important role for us, offering highly exciting prospects from an economic point of view," Merz stated, underlining the strategic importance of the bilateral relationship.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Chancellor Merz expressed his gratitude to President Aliyev for the collaboration, particularly in energy supplies. "I would like to once again express my appreciation to President Ilham Aliyev for the opportunity to exchange views on this matter. You are providing an opportunity for us to receive higher volumes of gas from Azerbaijan," Merz noted. He further emphasized that this cooperation is reflected in the Joint Declaration signed by both parties.
