BAKU: GiLTEX LLC, a key player in Azerbaijan’s sustainability movement and the textile partner for COP29, has secured a significant achievement in its commitment to sustainable practices by obtaining the Amfori BSCI certification with an “A” rating. The certification, awarded after an audit by the Swiss SGS company, underscores GiLTEX’s adherence to the highest standards of responsible business practices.
According to Trend News Agency, GiLTEX is the first textile company in Azerbaijan to receive this distinguished certification, positioning itself among globally recognized organizations. The Amfori BSCI standards are acknowledged by leading brands such as H and M, Adidas, IKEA, Marks and Spencer, and Amazon, marking GiLTEX’s entry into an elite group of socially responsible enterprises.
The certification is expected to bolster GiLTEX’s reputation in international markets, highlighting its commitment to fair working conditions throughout its supply chain. This recognition will likely facilitate long-term bu
siness relationships and enhance the company’s export potential.
Kamran Agasi, CEO of GiLTEX LLC, emphasized the strategic importance of this achievement, stating, “Our COP29 partnership and the Amfori BSCI certification are a continuation of our sustainability efforts.” Agasi noted that the company has been actively pursuing sustainability initiatives, such as using eco-friendly chemicals, treating wastewater, and monitoring carbon emissions from logistics vehicles. He affirmed GiLTEX’s dedication to implementing further innovative sustainability solutions.
The Amfori BSCI program, established in 2003 by the Foreign Trade Association of Europe, is a leading social audit initiative that aids companies in enhancing well-being, responsibly utilizing natural resources, and promoting open trade. Its standards are grounded in international regulations, including those from the International Labour Organization and the UN’s Human Rights Charter.
