Global Security and International Law Discussed at Global Baku Forum

Baku: A panel discussion titled 'Global Security and the Balance of Power: Respect for International Law, New Issues, New Challenges' was held today as part of the 13th Global Baku Forum.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President of Timor-Leste Jose Ramos-Horta expressed concerns about the current state of international law and highlighted the increasing number of refugees worldwide. Former Prime Minister of Belgium and former President of the European Council Charles Michel noted that international law is under threat, emphasizing the need for the EU to make more independent decisions.

Former Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa pointed out the necessity for changes in the global security system. Other speakers at the panel also mentioned the weakening role of the United Nations, suggesting that regional organizations might play a more significant role in the future.
