Baku:Major global stock indices experienced mostly positive performance as market sentiment benefited from various economic factors. In the United States, the Dow Jones index rose by 90.94 points, or 0.18%, reaching 51,267.90 points. The S&P 500 gained 51.23 points, or 0.66%, to hit 7,773.95 points. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite climbed by 286.45 points, or 1.05%, to a record high of 27,477.31 points. The NYSE Composite increased by 0.57% to 23,788.62 points, and Canada's S&P/TSX Composite saw a slight rise of 0.04% to 35,518.55 points.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, European markets showed mixed but largely positive trends. The Euro Stoxx 50 edged up by 0.06% to 6,242.14 points, the UK's FTSE 100 gained 0.34% to 10,497.94 points, and Germany's DAX increased by 0.09% to 25,254.21 points. Spain's IBEX 35 rose significantly by 1.12% to 19,299.70 points. However, France's CAC 40 saw a decline of 0.80% to 7,834.10 points.
In the Asia-Pacific region, markets also recorded gains. Japan's Nikkei 225 increased by 0.51% to 70,306.71 points, and the TOPIX rose by 0.58% to 4,169.17 points. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gained 0.75% to 24,220.35 points, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 climbed 0.62% to 8,740.20 points. Mainland Chinese markets remained closed for the National Day holiday, with the latest figure for China's CSI 300 index dating back to September 30.
The positive trends in global markets were largely supported by a reduced likelihood of another Federal Reserve interest rate hike in October, following weak U.S. labor market data and lower oil prices. Additionally, strong buying in technology stocks, particularly shares of Nvidia and Microsoft, contributed to the Nasdaq Composite's record high. In Europe, bank and mining stocks provided market support, though concerns over France's budget and debt burden affected the CAC 40. In Asia, the technology rally in the United States and easing concerns over the Federal Reserve bolstered positive sentiment.
